Our founder is a classic "left the corporate life to follow her passion" story — but with a twist of lime. After graduating from ISB and spending 8 years in the tech world, she swapped dashboards for chopping boards and never looked back. A true foodie at heart, she's the kind of person who throws dinner parties just because, always has a new sauce bubbling on the stove, and believes that a good meal can fix just about anything.
When she's not stirring up something delicious, she's probably re-reading Jane Austen (yes, for the 15th time), rearranging furniture for the thrill of it, or diving headfirst into her next DIY home project. She's also a big believer that great food doesn't have to be complicated — and that's exactly what Basil & Pestle is all about.
How it all started...
The idea for Basil & Pestle came during a tough period when health issues forced her to hit pause on life. Sanjana found herself leaning hard into the healing power of food — but not just any food. She became obsessed with recreating global dishes in cleaner, healthier ways. No preservatives, no weird stuff, just honest ingredients and BIG flavor. Her friends and family couldn't stop raving… and eventually, they convinced her to turn her kitchen experiments into a full-blown brand.
And so, Basil & Pestle was born — a line of globally-inspired, ridiculously tasty, and super easy-to-use sauces made for the well-travelled Indian who's hungry for more.
